September Relaxer Update, Forced Cut and Hairdresser Issues

Seems like forever....but we've been so busy and caught up with school there was practically no time to post. And so I never got you guys up to date with my relaxer, which was maybe the worst relaxer I've ever gotten. Not to mention too that terrible hairdresser who applied the relaxer on.

I had relaxed at 13 weeks post, and I used the the relaxer that the hairdresser provided which was the Profectiv no lye relaxer. I had read a couple of reviews on it online and it didn't seem so bad, but when it was applied to my new growth it was like fireeee. I got no visible burns from the relaxer but it was burning me the entire process, and not to to mention it got my hair so straight and lifeless even after the roller set it had no body. I was not sure if she used the regular or super on me but it got it beyond straight that it looked unhealthy.

                                                                                   Before

After

And worse of all this hairdresser decided to give me a so called 'trim' which turned out to be a cut..She kept assuring me in the chair she wasn't going to trim off alot, because I kept squirming and turning (p.s. the chair was away from the mirror so I couldn't see a thing). I mean I was so upset when I saw how my hair turned out, I literally went home and cried. My length was gone and plus she left me with much thinner hair. I mean even if she had cut my hair and it was bouncy and nice I wouldn't have been that upset but the state she left it in got me so mad. So you best believe I aint going back there.

Another set back...sigh

I didn't choose this new hairdresser, it was off my old hairdresser's recommendation...and because I liked how she did my hair I automatically trusted her recommendation. I have gotten over most of it though, but I mean I still do get upset at times thinking back, and wishing I had never gone to her. I am currently working back trying to restore the damage she left which led me to tweak up my regimen a little. I am now sealing with coconut oil and I try to incorporate coconut oil and Jamaican back castor oil on wash days. I have also started taking some Natrol biotin 1000mcg to help me along the way. But you'll hear more about these changes later to come.

Since I relaxed Sept 27, I am due for a next relaxer now. I am 11 weeks post and I have found a new hairdresser, and hopefully this won't end tragically like the last one. I am going to be relaxing with the Creme of Nature Straight from Eden Relaxer in type B next Monday or Tuesday. It was a bit pricier than the regular box relaxers, but after researching I thought it might have been the best one to choose. Others that I had in mind to use or would use if the Straight from Eden didn't work out would be the Hawaiian Silky, Soft n Beautiful or the ORS lye relaxer. But I surely hope it does work though because I don't really like switching too much from relaxers.

Well I tried to keep this post as short as I could possibly keep it lol. I just hope things go much better with this hairdresser sigh, it feels like I just can't trust no one anymore. But you'll surely hear about my review on that and the Straight of Eden. (P.S.I smelled the Hydrating Shampoo in the box, and it smells divine girlllll)

Had any suckish hairdresser experience? Has anyone tried the CON Straight from Eden? Well if you do please be more than welcome to comment :)

  1. Oh Abbii I'm so sorry this happened to you! I stopped going to a salon years ago as my stylist would not wash off my relaxer when my scalp was burning and would get 'scissor happy' every time I had a 'trim'. Hopefully your next experience is positive x

    1. Thanks so much Lesley, I honestly do not know where some of these hairdressers develop some of these practices from. I have been thinking about self relaxing but I'm still not sure...but hopefully I'll have a better experience this time around

  2. Hairdressers are scissor happy. That's why i do my hair myself. Chin up, it will grow back before you know it.

  3. Be strong Abbii. I'm 25 and I have only been to a hair salon 3 times only because my mother had always done my hair growing up and when she stopped I did my own. Reading stories like this 1. makes me not ever want to go to the salon and 2. so happy that I learned how to do my own hair.

  4. So sorry this happened to you Abbii. I've had a few bad experiences myself so I decided that even it's a recommendation from someone I trust I will ask the hairdresser questions and see pictures of other clients before I let them touch my hair.
